- Plunger coffee makers, also called French press or piston coffee
makers, are simple, quick and easy to clean, and take up little
space.
- Plunger coffee makers consist of a cylindrical body where a
movable filter is placed, pushed by a piston. The ground coffee is
placed inside the coffee maker, hot water is added and left to
rest for 3 or 4 minutes; then the movable filter and the lid are
placed and the plunger is pressed with the filter: the coffee
grounds remain at the bottom and the liquid coffee at the top,
ready to serve.
- The coffee obtained with plunger coffee makers is smooth and
pleasant to the palate, with a fine sediment. Many baristas
prefer plunger or French press coffee makers for their elegance:
it is the system that most closely resembles coffee tasting, by
infusion, unlike Italian coffee makers or espresso machines,
where the flavours become too concentrated or even bitter if
the water temperature is not well controlled.
- In addition, plunger coffee makers are suitable for preparing
tea and other infusions.
- The plunger coffee makers are made of glass and 18% Cr
stainless steel (alloy with 18% chromium), which offers
excellent resistance to corrosion and food acids and salts; it
is a smooth, non-porous and very hygienic material, easy to
clean.
